    This might be an interesting area to look at later on, but at this point I'm much more focused on getting the core pieces working and developing towards a releasable game. Currently all communications are plain telnet with ANSI color coding, though I do already have plans to support some of the various extention protocols that have been defined for muds. If the XML thing is added in, it will be quite a ways down the road, unless you would like to put together classes for it (preferably based on the latest code).
