It's not exactly a bug... It was 'poor' programming as defined by the folks that maintain gcc. It is called casting an l-value and gcc no longer supports it.
Since the author of this software has passed, all we can do is hope a friendly C++ programmer can look at the issue and offer to upload a patch to these forums.
