  • Comment: invert image

It is completely out-of-scope to add image filters in dvgrab.

  • invert image

I would like to hang a cam/motorized head[1] from the ceiling and stream to dvsiwth, but the image will be upside down. dvswitch could do the inversion, but I think it would be better if it was done in dvgrab, mainly because often dvgrab is run on a 2nd box, so it would be good to use it's CPU. Also it would mean the feature would be available to dvgrab users, not just dvswitchers. [1]...

  • Comment: segfault pthread_create.c:297

If rebooting resolved it, then it indicates that something is wrong in the kernel. If this happens again, you can see if just reloading the firewire modules helps. Also, make a note if you are using the ieee1394 or firewire subsystem.

  • Comment: List of dropped frames

I am no longer working on Kino, even for maintenance. However, I will accept patches.

  • Comment: List of dropped frames

Your rationale is good. Maybe some new capture GUI for PiTiVi, Kdenlive, and/or OpenShot should provide this.

  • List of dropped frames

Hi, I have one suggestion. When you grab video with Kino, sometimes Kino drops some frames. In GUI, Kino displays a number of dropped frames, but not which are. However, that could be seen in console (if you run Kino from console). But it would be very useful that GUI will also display a LIST of dropped frames, gor instance if you click to number displaying dropped frames. Let's say you...

  • Comment: segfault pthread_create.c:297

Looks like the same bt, different set of steps to cause it. running dvsource-degrab for over an hour, segfault. run dvgrab, instant segfault (didn't even create a file) gdb dvgrab, segfault, bt full, see below power cycle camera, dvsource-degrab, worked for maybe a minute, then 'invalid frame' stopped streaming for about 5 seconds, then continued. repeat 4 or 5 times then segfault...

  • Comment: kino playback faster than real speed

I am no longer working on Kino, even for maintenance. Importing a non-DV file into Kino simply calls mencoder and/or ffmpeg through a generic transcode script that works well for most things. So, really the problem lies somewhere in mencoder or ffmpeg. The script is at /usr/share/kino/scripts/import/media.sh if you would like to try running it manually to see where the problem is occurring...

  • kino playback faster than real speed

On avi files imported from digital camera only (30fps) . I've tried importing a (commercially generated?) avi file and that worked OK, as did mpeg files generated by Kaffeine. Sound is there (also too fast). I use Kino 1.1.1 on Mandriva 2008.0.
