merci beaucoup

Good one, but needs some features: 1. full compatibility with EAGLE files (.brd, .sch - I get errors when I try to open something made in EAGLE) 2. ability to work with/import EAGLE libraries (it's hard to get KiCAD ones, EAGLE ones are easier to find) 3. searching for a component (there's no such option when browsing libraries).

Very comfortable control, direct generation of data for PCB production. Rapid software development, multilingual. Much better than commercial EAGLE

As a previous enthusiast of Orcad 386 I have found Kicad to be intuitive and very productive. It does the job admirably well!

Not perfect yet, but very competitive with high-end commercial schematic capture and PCB / PWB systems.

I've been using kicad to successfully produce boards for some time now. It has a few odd quirks, but generally it's very stable and pleasant to use. The user group is friendly and helpful, both for complete beginners and experienced engineers.
