Fish protocol won't work

I use Konqueror with the Fish protocol with no problems on FC1,2, and 3, also on Debian. In trying to help someone with this Kbear/Fish problem, I installed it on Debian Sarge using synaptic, and it works ok using ftp from one machine to the other, as does Gftp that I normally use. But using the Fish protocol I can't get any connection to the other machine. I tried removing the RSA key in /home/user_name/.ssh/known_hosts which is for 192.168.0.230 (the other machine), then started Kbear again. Filled in all the stuff in the quick connect window, then tried to connect. Next the window questioning the key comes up, asks whether you want to continue,"Yes", Kbear then recreates the key I deleted for 192.168.0.230, but that is as far as it gets, and refuses to connect. Any idea if I've missed something that is specific to Kbear for the fish protocol? But isn't necessary for Konqueror, as that works fine. Nigel.
