This project grew out of an article for JavaWorld magazine written by myself and Tracie Karsjens. After the article was published, we received numerous suggestions for improvements. Although the article was intended as a demonstration of technique, and a discussion of unit testing in general, we decided to support the helpful suggestions from our readers. Hence, this project. Now, it is time to wind this project down. The same technique we were demonstrating has been taken to much greater lengths with the "Cactus" project, now part of Apache's Jakarta Commons. Cactus (http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/cactus/index.html) was previously known as J2EEUnit. After a name change (removing the trademarked "J2EE" component) and a relocation, Cactus has found a new home in Jakarta's library of reusable components. Cactus supports servlet-invoked test cases as well as providing "dummy" request, response, and session objects for testing of servlets themselves. I hope you will join me in moving to and supporting the Cactus project. --Michael T. Nygard
