Weird.
(1) Can you please run [http://jstock.sourceforge.net/customers/jstock.jar][1] again. I had made some changes, to prevent your system network properties being modified.
(2) Can you please extract and run [http://jstock.sourceforge.net/customers/jstock.zip][2] by typing
java -jar sandbox.jar
This jar file is merely compiled from source...

Yes, I am using 1.0.5c
And I also get the message you comment about downloading.
¿Could it have some relation with the source from which one adds the stocks?
In my case, I added the stocks from "Mercado Continuo".

May I know are you using version 1.0.5c?
Also, after you click on network icon, It will display
"50 stocks being downloaded so far..."
"100 stocks being downloaded so far..."
"150 stocks being downloaded so far..."
....
"Connected"
Do you get the same case?.

I suspect there is a bug on our side.
Can you please replace the jar file with the special built jar file from here :
You shall see
"Debug : java.net.useSystemProxies = null"
being printed. Let me know whether it works.

I activated HTTPClient logging with org.apache.commons.logging.impl.SimpleLog and got this result:
> [ERROR] Utils - null

No, it did not work for me...
The stock codes remained the old wrong ones.
I had to go back to restore the correct codes manually in the "stockcodeandsymboldatabase.xml" file in user folder.
