bouncing dock icon

  1. 2005-04-08 00:49:26 UTC
Since upgrading to 0.8.1 from 0.8.0, I am bugged by the bouncing dock icon when iTerm is not the front app and connection dies. One of my shell accounts will disconnected after 60 min of no terminal activity so I have a script that runs to restart the connection, and keep my ssh tunnel open, but now have to deal with the icon dancing around. This did not happen under the previous version, but I can't find any new setting for dock notification.

Is there a way to disable this? Thanks.

Please see bug #1178691. You have to edit the source. Sorry about that. Didn't think this one through.

    Sigh. :-(

I hope updates are more frequent.

If we're counting votes, I'd also like to be able to shut off notification via the dock. I'm using a terminal session to build and launch an app which outputs to the console while it runs...but I am largely uninterested in the output, regardless of whether it contains errors or just debug info. Yet the dock attempts to notify me in its bouncy way...I'd love to be able to turn it off.

    Thanks

Yes, I would be very grateful for a fix to this.

    Thanks for an outstanding app.

I stopped using it due to the bug where the bottom line would not be displayed (I use vim, so this wasn't workable for me). I may have to switch back to Term until the bouncy icon goes away though.

Another vote to lose the bouncing dock icon.

yeah, the bouncing dock icon is really annoying. I will actually use another terminal application until it is solved...

Another vote to add an option to disable the bouncing dock icon.

    And another...

    I'm okay with it if:

    1. It can be disabled entirely (in fact, OFF by default I think).
    2. It can be managed on a per-tab basis. For example, if I have a chat session going in tab number 2 and want to be notified of an update, I can turn it on for that tab, but not for the rest, or maybe vice-versa, maybe I'm in a very busy chatroom. Currently iTerm will demand my attention constantly. That's just not right. :P

Another vote to add an option to disable the bouncing dock icon. It's annoying the hell out of me.

One more vote to disable it bouncing icon.

I just started using iTerm because of the tabbed panes and am now in love with being able to open different profiles of terms that I can setup to automatically log into various machines. It's awesome....

I am so easily distracted though, that bouncing icon is a show-stopper. Drives me insane.

So, as this is a really old thread... is there any plan to fix this?

    another vote to disable bouncing-dock-icon

I think about using x11-konsole instead
of this, because of this bug

    (poor english?)

    system-preferences
