iqr is a simulation software to graphically design and control large-scale neuronal models. Simulations in iqr can control real-world devices in real-time. iqr can be extended by new neuron, and synapse types, and custom interfaces to hardware.

This is really a great program! It gives a great view of the possibilities available for neural systems applied to robotics while not being intimidating to novices in this field. It is easy to use and allows for extremely fast prototyping of neural systems which is truly a valuable when designing these systems. I really like the easy to use and powerful visualization tools too see what is going on in each neuron of the network it really allows one to learn quickly by getting a feel for what the effect of each change is. Furthemore the ability to log this data makes it great when one needs to report on ones experimental results. The ability to interface with a host of components is also a great tool and eases the development of neural robotic control systems. I would recommend iqr as a starting point to anyone looking to get into this field from just get some quick and easy hands on experience to developing more complex systems.
I have been using IQR as a master student and I must say I really like the paradigm behind it. It's an under development software, so of course you can find issues here and there but nothing major. The overall software design is just amazing.
I have been using IQR for fast prototyping of networks where topography plays a crucial role. The simulations are easy to setup, and the GUI is quite well done. There are little quirks, but nothing major. Excellent tool for prototyping.
