Ipe is an extensible drawing editor for creating figures in PDF and Postscript format. It supports making small figures for inclusion into LaTeX-documents as well as presentations in PDF.
The very best drawing editor - ever up to now
the best scientific drawing tool I ever know. Great work!
What you need to make drawings which can be compiled in latex and included as eps in any latex / tex document.
excellent work! if only could support more file format :)
To my knowledge, it's the best drawing tool for any scientific or technical publication. I used it three years ago to draw almost all figures for my PhD thesis (excluding experimental data :-) ).
Simple and powerful software. Very handy when it goes about scientific drawing.
Very useful software, but transparency need to be set with script
Exactly what I needed for my figures with LaTeX...
Ipe and pdflatex are a fantastic pair!
Great tool.
Excellent work.Thanks!
Very handy tool for producing mathematics or physics related graphics! It's usability is very high and it is easy to learn. Recommended for everyone, from latex-novice to die-hard console freaks (although the latter will have to start X). Many thanks.

Otfried Cheong presents ipe, version 7. ipe is the perfect adding to pdflatex: -Latex packages and input files may be used. Formulas, equations, text etc. are written in LaTeX and, hence, are displayed in same quality as in LaTeX documents. -Several includable texts and/or graphics may be stored in a single PDF file. -A big number of xfig functionality is at hand in ipe. Moreover, formerly created xfig figures can be changed into ipe-Format with figtoipe. -The snapping mechanisms are merely perfect. -The whole is packed in an intutitive and versatile tool. It may be noted, that the program pdftoipe may transform pdf documents into an ipe-editable form. This occurs to be a suitable way for editing pdf files without additional pdf-editor. No doubt: ipe is recommendable. For me, this is number one tool.
