  • Comment: Hang while loading MP3 w/large image

Lex, As mentioned in the release notes, JMF has a problem with ID3 tags over 100KB. Unfortunately, this is a problem that only Sun Microsystems can fix. Chris.

  • Comment: does the XMLTool.bat need JDK to

Mario, Unfortunately, none of the players and sites you mention are likely to support ID3v2 chapters. The only players which currently support ID3v2 chapters are the Flash and Java players in this project and Conduits Technologies' Pocket Player. The Flash player is designed to play files from a web server. You can modify the filename in the example webpage to play your files. Chris.

Yes, I did notice the change in file that was a little bigger. which I too figured that it should have the tags or I may be wrong. First I checked the file in FLV (and if a chapter exists then it shows a chapter button not the image tho). the same happens with.m4a and .m4v files that have chapters in them. (most likely built with Apple's chapter tool 'garageband') or other 3rd parties...

Mario, >the result still doest not seems to carry the chapter information on the ID3v2 tag How are you confirming this? Remember that most players do not currently support ID3v2 chapters. If the chapter information has been added the file size will be a little larger than the input file. Chris.

Mario, > Error: Unable to realize com.sun.media.amovie.AMController@98a8b8 This is a JMF error. Are you adding a lot of images? As mentioned in the release notes, JMF has problems with ID3v2 tags that exceed 100 KB. If you exceed this limit (e.g. by adding lots of images) this will stop you saving or playing the file. If I remember correctly you can avoid this problem by using XMLTool...

  • Comment: does the XMLTool.bat need JDK to

Hello Chris, Thank you for the quick response. The output file as you have said does play like a normal mp3 file but without the information added to the ID3v2 tag. This is the error I found on the background command line while execusion. When I try to do a SAVEAS test.mp3 ( the app hangs for a while then throws this error in the background command line) D:\Chaptertool>java -classpath...

  • Comment: does the XMLTool.bat need JDK to

JRE should be sufficient to run XMLTool - you don't need the JDK. The output file from XMLTool is an MP3 file (with the additional chapter information added to the ID3v2 tag) so you should use ".mp3" for the file extension. Some things to try - does the output file play like a standard MP3 file? - can you see the additional ID3v2 chapter frames with a tag editor? - can you play it (and...

  • does the XMLTool.bat need JDK to

Do we need to have JDK installed for the XMLTool.bat to run successfully? I know im missing something very silly yet important step. Please help me figure this out. Everything that I have done so far seems fine as far as I go with the step by step procedure from 1 to 10 (FROM THE GETTING STARTED section.) Now i have the output file saved in the same loction without any file extension. so I...
