Was talking to Michael earlier.
Any chances someone can install 2.6.32 from the Debian repos, recompile the driver and see if that makes a difference?
Sorry, just a bit bogged down here at the moment.

Hi,
As requested, my config:
Intel 2.0 GHz Dual Core desktop PC
Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) SMP
kernel 2.6.31-14-generic
architecture i686
black (old?) USB-only iBurst modem (from iBurst SA)
Just let me know if there's any other info that would help.
Thanks,
Riaan.

A full "uname a" and "dmesg" of a system that is running the new drivers from Michael Trim's repo with perfect stability.

Send an email to me with your exact config under boot so I can test it

Fedora Kernels:
.(Sorry I just ditched my Ubuntu partition in favor of a nice fat ccache folder)
- 2.6.30.9-90.fc11.i586
- 2.6.29.6-1.rt23.4.fc11.ccrma.i586.rt
I'll post a full "uname -a" and "dmesg" as a text file under patches if there's no objections.

I have tested the 2.6.32 from git and I have no problem and the kernel
from debian sid. During the probe part it works. I can't test more because
I have no iburst network here.

Hi Ross,
That's really interesting.
Can you tell us exactly what kernel versions you are using?
( uname -r )
It may not be the kernel version so much as the USB subsystem version that is the problem.
Cheers!
Nik.
