Description

Harbour is the free software implementation of a multi-platform,
multi-threading, object-oriented, scriptable programming language,
backward compatible with Clipper/xBase. Harbour consists of a compiler
and runtime libraries with multiple UI and database backends, its own
make system and a large collection of libraries and interfaces to many
popular APIs.

    It simple works! The code quality is very good and you will be surprised how powerful it is. I really recomend it to those migrating from CA-Clipper or other xBase flavours.

    Harbour is an interesting case of what can be achieved by a small team very capable and dedicated developers and a highly convincing example of qualitative open source software to which few -very few- commercial products could stand close. Perhaps, programmers out-there (even followers of mainstream products) might want to make their-selves a big favor by giving to this great tool a try.
