A Far West themed 2D shooter featuring bullet time. Made in Lua using the Love2D library (http://love2d.org).
In just a few megs, this great little game delivers a lot of what commercial tactical shooters do; but the game unfolds in crack-like two-minute shootouts rather than hour-long missions. The experience is one of brief periods of nervous calculation, interrupted by moments of invariably lethal, split second action. The tension mounts quickly after being gunned down a few times, and every gunshot is like a sharp jab to the nerves. You find yourself huddling behind cover, weighing your chances against an enemy, then sprinting out into the open and emptying your gun in the direction of the bad guys before diving back to relative safety, to reload and plan the next step. There isn't a lot wrong with this game, but If I could make suggestions for the dev team, I'd ask for some indication of which way an enemy is facing; occasionally it feels like you can catch somebody looking in the other direction, but the sprites don't make this clear. Just a white dot would be enough. Having the option to remap keys, or just more choices of keys, would be great too; I find the middle mouse button a bit awkward, hard to push as reliably and accurately as the left or right. It could also be cool to have dead enemies remain onscreen, providing a sort of history of the battle, like bullet holes do in some 3d games. A few different weapons might be nice, or maybe a horse riding component, but these are pretty much frills. Many thanks to the devs for releasing this fun and addictive game! PS: The music is great. :)
It reminds me of the old TI-99 games .. only with mouse support.. and bullet time. I originally linked here from love2d.org, but I had to come back to give a review. Great little game!
Very simple but lots of fun
