• GridNetSim: Introduction & Availability

  This project documents the development of a suite of ns2 grid network simulators that was done as part of the EC-GIN project. The aim is to refine and develop these simulators to provide input to the larger ns2 and grid simulation community. The EC-GIN project (http://www.ec-gin.eu/corpsite/display/main.asp) partners are pleased to announce the availability of the Grid application traffic simulators for public release. These simulators represent the conclusion of a work package aimed at studying, modelling and replicating network traffic generated from a range of typical grid applications. The release includes four separate ns2 simulators which model ATLAS, GridFTP, IPTV and PPLive (P2P streaming) applications respectively all of which can be tuned to replicate a range of conditions and streaming parameters. This code is now available for download for parties wishing to experiment with the characteristics of grid network traffic. The simulators are provided as-is with the appropriate files and user guides and detailed documentation describing their operation. The aim of this project is to use this work as a starting point to further develop our simulators to enhance their functionality and refine their operation.
