GNUitar is guitar effects software that allows you to use your PC as guitar processor. It includes the following effects: wah-wah, sustain, distortion, reverberator, echo, delay, tremolo, vibrato, and chorus/flanger.

Just plugin your guitar to your mic jack with a 1/4 in to 1/8 adapter you can get at RadioShack and you're set. There is a bit of delay between playing and hearing the sound on my Athlon 64 x2 dual core 1.9 GHz, but it is just like playing with a delay and is still fun.
