  • Gnucash is the best open source alternative to most of the commercial accounting apps out there. I have been using it for 2 years & except for some getting used to the new way of doing things, I feel that it can beat most of the accounting apps hands down...

  • I've been using GnuCash since 2007 and I love every bit of it :) . Specially now that is on Linux, Mac, and Win.

  • I love it. I have been using it for 3 years. I don't need to look for any alternate. I appreciate the team for their continuous effort and contribution.

  • Fantastic! I finally got my finances organized after years of ignoring them! Excellent documentation also; I've never taken accounting, but the docs taught me everything I need to know to maintain my own records. Great tool!

  • I've used this software for years (on Linux) and it works great. It is easy to get data both in to and out of it. The double entry accounting system ensures that you track your expenses and liabilities properly. It can import from several different bank output formats and learns what transactions go to which accounts (somehow, perhaps using pattern matching). It can also download directly from your bank, although I have not tried that. It can get stock quotes from the internet, but that requires some low level configuration. Overall, it is a good, solid program that is easy to use and powerful.

  • complete, simple, accurate, multi-platform, may lack a bit of documentation when it comes to customize it deeply but it is really well maintained with new features on a regular basis.

  • Since upgrading to v5.5 - get the message "The procedure entry point xmllOFTPClose could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files\(x86)\gnucash\bin\libxmlsec1.dll" Initially I installed the upgrade over the previous version when the message started to occur. I uninstalled the program completely and reinstalled and still get the same issue. Why? Because even though you uninstall the program in Windows, the DLL files are still there, so by uninstalling the program and then going to C:\Program Files (x86) and removing the Gnucash folder (thus removing all the residual files) and then reinstalling Gnucash - it opened up with no errors or messages. The upgrade process should be updated to refresh the DLL files and mitigate potential errors/issues.
  • Wonderful reliable application. My only quibble is with some of the UI choices such as pale colours on top of pale colours, redundant questions when importing QIF, funny places to store report templates.
  • This program is total trash. The developers ought to be embarrassed to attach their names to junk like this. It can't import even simple QIF files. The only error message it shows is "Failed." No further information. The user manual doesn't address this and the on-line "Help" is abysmal. This program is ShareWare and I think it's overpriced.
  • Tried to import a QuickBooks QBO file using the Mac version. While there was no indication that this program would do that, it allowed me to select the file in the Import dialog -- which, if that particular file format is not supported, should not have happened. Unfortunately that was all it did -- allowed me to select it. After that, it put up another window asking me to select some options, with a couple of check boxes ... but I could do absolutely *NOTHING* in this window. Checkboxes didn't work, nor did the little field in that same window allow me to adjust the values in it. Gave up. Quit the program -- but could not get that Import window to go away without resorting to the Force Quit keyboard command. Final verdict for Mac users: Look for something else. Programs on the Mac are supposed to follow the Apple Human Interface Guidelines, and this one clearly does not. For the developers of this program: Do better. Don't say a program works on the Mac without making even the smallest attempt of adhering to the Apple Human Interface Guidelines, which are easily found with a simple Google search. Shame on you.
  • I have only just started, but can't say I like it. The QIF import fails. And there is Nothing more to say! Not why, not where. I hate to feel that I am completely wasting my time! Oh My! The"tradable commodities' screen was the worst design I think I even saw. The screen is enormous, the bottom is not viewable; to see the 'Next' button you have to go full screen, with an acre of blank space between the corners! Wow. And THEN, you have to press the next button a few hundred time just to get through.
  • This is a awesome project that still has potential. Keep it up!
  • Looks good. Will test it with my wallet!
  • Thanks for Gnucash, it's wonderful!

  • Excellent program.Very easy and simple to use.
  • I moved to GnuCash from the no-longer-supported Quicken and am very happy with the software. Robust and full-featured. High quality and reliable. Update, 2013-01-07. Ten months using GnuCash and still very much liking it. Currently on 2.4.14 and staying on that for a while yet, resisting the urge to move to the recent 2.6.0 release... I'll give it a month or so to bed-in and make the jump with 2.6.1 or .2.
  • Very Helpful and good service! Thank you.
  • Very usefull app. I'm using it for over 4 month now. There could be more options of mortgage. Also mobile app should be able to connect to MySQL database. But still great piece of software.
  • I loved it. Great works and no problems.
  • I've just installed can't wait to try - so excited, thank you - it's a long time i thought to build in something like that in my system :)
