GnuCash is a personal and small-business finance manager with a check-book like register GUI to enter and track bank accounts, stocks, income and expenses. GnuCash is designed to be simple and easy to use but still based on formal accounting principles.

I've used this software for years (on Linux) and it works great. It is easy to get data both in to and out of it. The double entry accounting system ensures that you track your expenses and liabilities properly. It can import from several different bank output formats and learns what transactions go to which accounts (somehow, perhaps using pattern matching). It can also download directly from your bank, although I have not tried that. It can get stock quotes from the internet, but that requires some low level configuration. Overall, it is a good, solid program that is easy to use and powerful.

So pleased to find this ready compiled version of GnuCash for OS X available. I've compiled it myself using Fink back in 2007 and more recently the same stable version that you have here via MacPorts, but it was fairly painful and so much easier to download someone else's good work. Thank you very much, and please keep up the good work. Gnucash is an excellent Personal and Small Business Finance program - definitely the best (or among the best) available. It may not be glitzy but it is solid, reliable and I've been using it for many years on Linux and Mac OS X.

A great finance program, clean source and extremely functional and scalable. Glad to see more programmers focusing on functionality over form. Reports are extremely useful, and great for budgeting. Been using it for over 1 1/2 years, and haven't had an issue yet. It keeps getting better.
