What's happening?

  • IMAP changes now marks as read all mail

    Hello. Tonight Google seems to have made some changes about IMAP unread treatment. Now when GmailAssitant access to message body it becomes marked as read. Has been documented in a lot of places, this explains very well the problem (and workaround).     I'm having this problem on Ubuntu 9.04 with the latest JRE (6.14). More problematic is that if I have Gmail Assistant set to run as a startup application, it grabs hold of the sound hardware and borks sound for the rest of the system (no alsa). I don't need the Gmail Assistant 'ding' ... is there a command-line switch to disable sound? Love Gmail Assistant, hope I can smooth this out.
