import script not working

  1. 2009-10-16 04:28:00 UTC

    I have installed the software using danwood's script, (very nice by the way) but I'm having issues importing my music. I run the import script from my music directory (/jukebox/music)

    I've followed the import program to the parsefile sub routine, where it never hits the addfile sub routine, any suggestions?

    I forgot to note, in the music directory all the music is stored in sub folders, by artist, then under that the album name if I have that.... is that a problem?

    I don't think it's possible to import an entire music collection like this. I only use the import script in cases where I rip the CD to USB stick on a different machine (e.g. Amazon delivers to work!). Plug the USB into the Gjukebox and run the import script from that directory; it adds the songs to the database, and adds the album information if you've got all the tags correct. Then you MUST run the organize script to physically move the music off the USB stick and onto the Gjukebox's filesystem.

    At least, that's how I do it ;-)

    I know the built-in ripping is a bit slow and inconvenient if your server is tucked away, but I still use it whenever I can. That said, I do use the import script for albums with multiple discs, but you must get the track numbering right or the album won'tget created.
