  • giveme 3.2.2 file released: giveme-3.2.2.tar.bz2

sep 15 2008 - complete overhaul of algorithm that creates threads and gives them something to do. New algorithm is more along the lines of my original intention (one thread per thing to do, just limit when to make them) but i never got around to it initially due to wanting to flesh out the rest of the programs features first. the temporary solution worked pretty well in 80% of the cases, but this one is much better as it'll use up 100% of all cores (assuming you use --threads=#ofcores) until there is only 1 file left to convert. -complete overhaul of the Makefile, modification to the configure script. Very sleek now. -the ncurses interface from 3.1.x has been ripped out and replaced with a less informative task-wise but more informative total-job-wise progress indicator. the ncurses interface was the best of both worlds, but this sort of application really doesn't need or benefit much from it. -it now decodes to /tmp always instead of ./ (which may or may not be writable or have space for decoded files; i ran into this once, actually). -verbose mode is a little more verbose since it should only be used on rare occasions, usually debugging. -bump to 3.2.0 sep 10 2008 -added ability to work on filenames whose extensions were all CAPS and what not. -some streamlining of the configure script & Makefile -bump to 3.1.2 jan 18 2008-finished the basic ncurses interface, and made it the default. -added the -V | --verbose option to not use ncurses. -compiling now requires the ncurses src|devel, linking requires ncurses libs, regardless of whether you want to use the ncurses interface or not. yeah, i really don't care. -i don't know how the ncurses interface will work with a shitload of files, or when the number of threads goes beyond the width of the terminal. my guess is a complete meltdown -> segfault. -bump to 3.1.0 nov 20 2007 -made it easier to add new formats w/o recompiling at all. Replaced retardo code that would perform regexp matching on filenames with much better code, and this new code is causes efficiency to go up just a hair over the old retardo method. -Removed some of the ridiculous verbosity to do with threads, but left in some more verbosity to do with filename matching (cuz I have a feeling something will go wrong, and i'd like to see what happens :P). nov 18 2007-added support for .tta files. requires the ttaenc executable from http://www.true-audio.com/Free_Downloads . Bump to 3.0.7
