As a professional Photoshoper I stumbled over Gimp several years ago, and after only a little while I really fell in love with it. It may look a little bit complicated at the first time, but it offers a lot of amazing opportunities and makes a lot of fun. Hordes of crazy people are permanently creating new usefull plug-ins for it. So it will never be boring with it. And if you may be bored anyway, you can become one of those crazy people.
