A CAPI variant of the Gigaset 307x Linux drivers is now available, allowing CAPI 2.0 compatible applications to be used with a Gigaset SX2x5 series base.
The code is available in the k26 branch of the project GIT repository.
It has also been accepted by David Miller (the Linux kernel networking subsystem maintainer) into his net-next-2.6 tree, so it will be included in kernel release 2.6.33.

The fix has been merged for stable kernel release 2.6.27.36.
So releases from the 2.6.27.x train are usable again starting with that release.
Releases to avoid (final list):
2.6.27.22 to 2.6.27.35
2.6.28.10
Sorry for the inconvenience,
Tilman.

The fix is still missing in release 2.6.27.35.
I hope I'll be able to convince the stable maintainer to pick it up for 2.6.27.36, but don't hold your breath.
For now I can only recommend that Gigaset users stay clear of the 2.6.27 and 2.6.28 trains.
If you are using a distribution based on one of these two releases, ask them to merge the Ubuntu patch.

A merge error has occurred affecting the stable Linux kernel releases 2.6.27.22 through 2.6.27.22 and 2.6.28.10, rendering the Gigaset base driver bas_gigaset inoperative in those releases. Symptoms are a NULL pointer BUG message in the syslog, the lsusb command hanging, and unability to shut down or suspend as soon as a Gigaset base is connected to the system.
A fix has been submitted for...

Take your time. Whatever you can do to help will be welcome.
On your question about git: So far I haven't used anything but CVS on SourceForge. I read in their newsletter that they support SVN and git now, too, but I haven't got around to take a look yet, so I don't even know whether our project repository might be (or easily made) accessible via git.
In fact I would prefer using git...

That' s fine with me.
I can't promise to deliver anything at short notice. However, feel free to prod me if this is taking too long (which it generally does once I publicly announce something ...).
Is there a public git repository for this project or should I just use some git-cvs tool on my side?.
