  • Comment: GO:0042576 aspartyl aminopeptidase activity

True. There is information loss. As I remember the discussion at the time, both within the working group and in the larger GO (GOC) community, the information loss was seen to be an acceptable cost for purging GO terms that pointed to single enzymes. Midori, is this an accurate recollection / summary? Thanks. Peter.

  • Comment: GO:0042576 aspartyl aminopeptidase activity

thats a shame, I have lots of aminotransfrases, but only one aspartyl aminopeptidase it would seem useful to capture this. Is this a non-negociable decision? If so I will reluctanly try to devise another way to capture this information. v.

  • Comment: Sphingomyelin biosynthesis parentage

I think the same argument could be made for the current child of ceramide biosynthsis, glycosylceramide biosynthetic process. Subsitute "phosphocholyl" for glycosyl, and you have sphingomyelin (and its a single step difference, just like ceramide glycosylceramide. If we move Sphingomylelin biosynthesis to be is_a ceramide biosynthesis, it appears ok with the reasoners.

  • Comment: pathogenesis

Well, the Human Disease Ontology (DOID) has 'disease' as its root node, and uses this def: A disease is a pattern of abnormal functioning, or abnormal localization of normal functioning, and / or abnormal localization of constituents when compared to other members of that species. A disease may also be characterized by an abnormal physiological response to an environmental insult, which...

Changed the name of GO:0032865 to ERMES complex (from Mdm10/Mdm12/Mmm1 complex), updated the definition as suggested. New terms: organelle membrane contact site ; GO:0044232 (is_a organelle part, part_of organelle membrane). ER-mitochondrion membrane contact site ; GO:0044233 (isa organelle membrane contact site, part_of mitochondrial membrane, ER membrane) Copied 'ERMES complex ;...
