Gedit is an amazingly useful text editor. I use it almost exclusively for programming proprietary languages which require expensive editors. Gedit is also highly customizable which makes it perfect for proprietary or old languages (like RAPID for ABB robots). The plug-ins, like snippets, allow you to customize the editor to whatever language you need and makes coding fast and fun!
