If you are looking for a simple Java GEDCOM parser try the JavaGedcom library that is included in the GedLynk project. https://sourceforge.net/projects/gedlynk/files/.

I am brand new to GDBI and fairly new to Java in general. I searched for a GEDCOM parser written in Java, and found GDBI. However, I am having trouble figuring out which jar I need to download and what to import to use the parser in my project.
I need to read the GEDCOM and extract some basic information (INDI number, primary and alternative (e.g., married) names and birth/death dates, if...

Thanks, John. I don't think anyone checks GDBI before releasing a new version of PGV. The interface was broken the last time I upgraded, which was around version 4.1.6.

Hi Jukka,
Sorry, the connection between GDBI and PGV is currently broken. I am working on getting it fixed, but there is still quite a bit of work to do.

PGV 4.2.1 is running on an internet server in MySQL and files are located in a password protected folder. I know the URL to access...

Greetings,
I've read a few of the (old) threads about merging and there was some questions about how merge would be used. Here are my thoughts and observations if work on merge were ever to be revisited:
What I currently do:
1) I use PGV to host my family tree for access by my family. I give individuals rights to edit the information, and I have control over hosting, costs, etc.
2) I...
