gAddressBookTool is an address book manipulation application. It has been written
because I found that I wished to merge many different address books, particularly from an
old Nokia phone and from Mozilla Thunderbird and export to a smart phone.
The tool has been written specifically to merge email and phone number contacts to be
exported to a vcard that can be copied onto smart phones.
It also has a sophisticated phone number formatter that can deduce the type of phone –
i.e. mobile/cell phones and geographic landlines, as well as formatting in E.123 format.
Please note, although I have made every effort to test and bug fix this application, this
software is a Beta version and is still in a test phase. The user of this software does so at
their own risk. The safest option is to save to different files from the originals to ensure
important data isn't lost. Please email the project If you do discover any problems.
Opening and Saving
It is possible to open and save:
• VCard 2.1 files
• VCard 3.0 files
• CSV files exported from Mozilla Thunderbird
• CSV files exported from Windows
It is also possible to open (but not save) Nokia Contents files (nfc).
Multiple files can be opened simultaneously by multiple selection within the Open
Dialog, using Shift-Click and/or Control-Click.
0.2b - Fixed bugs that prevented some VCards to be read.
0.1b - Original Beta Version.
