Sorry I didn't get to do much last night. Tonight I should have more time.
Meanwhile, I am attaching the 'lsusb -v' output for the Z-10 speakers here.

Also, I tried commenting out all the "control endpoint" calls in g15daemon
(all the LCD brightness setting, etc.) and that fixed the
"did not claim interface 0 before use" errors.

For all I know the LCD brightness isn't even settable
(I don't have windows to try the included software).

One issue still remaining is the usb device resets which libg15 does.
The alsa sound driver does not like these at all, esecially if it is
playing while the device is reset. I don't understand why they are needed.

I have verified that if I load the uinput kernel module I can see events
for all the buttons with xev.

BTW, is sourceforge having svn issues or has nothing really changed in the
g15tools / g15daemon repositories in 12 days?

I would rather post a patch against the new libg15 code you mentioned than
what's there now.
