fsarchiver is a system tool that allows you to save the contents of a file-system to a compressed archive file. The file-system can be restored on a partition which has a different size and it can be restored on a different file-system.
I'vebeen using fsarchiver to back up (and restore) my Fedora and Ubuntu partitions (both ext3 and ext4). Works very well. I really like the fact that the restoration target partition only needs to be large enough to hold the archived files, rather than the size of the original archived partition.
I have successfully used fsarchiver-0.56 to backup & restore my ext4 Linux. It worked great. Before fsarchiver, I used partimage but since it didn't support ext4, I made the switch to fsarchiver. It is great.
