    First, are you sure to use the LibPNG provided by FreeImage ?
    The itxt_length is *always* set to a value by LibPNG (either to zero or to the length of the string) when loading an image. So you cannot have an undefined value.
    iTxt is enabled in order to read/write comments in languages other than english.
