Note: FreeCAD is now part of the official repositories of the most used Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, Debian, Mint or Fedora. As such, we stopped to provide Linux packages here, since it is always much better to use a package supported by your distribution maintainers. We recommend you therefore to get FreeCAD from your package management application.
If you are on Ubuntu, the FreeCAD community also provides several PPAs that contain more recent versions than the standard Ubuntu repositories. These PPAs are available at https://launchpad.net/~freecad-maintainers
If your distribution doesn't provide a FreeCAD package, you can sometimes find FreeCAD packages provided by alternative sources. We list some of them on http://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/index.php?title=Download
If you cannot find any pre-compiled package for your distribution, then your last option is to compile FreeCAD yourself. We provide official source packages for official stable releases in the "FreeCAD Source" folder on this page, and there are build instructions on http://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/?title=CompileOnUnix
