It's not often I need to use FTP but when I do I use FileZilla and it's always a trouble-free experience. As a medium technical person, that says a lot for the software. Easy to set up and use, even if you're not deeply into FTP day-to-day.
Careful with this. It seems this project has been hijacked. The download doesn't come from sourceforge.net anymore, but from ak.pipoffers.apnpartners.com. The application name is "Ask Toolbar for Internet Explorer", and during the install, my firewall caught the app trying to connect to Offercast. I've been using this program for years and its absolutely perfect but had just reformatted my computer and needed it. I recommend going back and downloading an older version that's hosted at sourceforge, at least until someone explains why this seems to be loaded with spyware/adware. If it's a legitimate change, I will be finding a new FTP client if I need one in the future. Its a 5 star app without the spyware. With the spyware, its a no-install in my book.
only a bonehead installs software without reading the latest information and the terms you're agreeing to when installing software. caveat emptor. having said that, the crapware present on many repackaged open-source projects is disturbing. DL The 7-zip dl from filehippo, e.g., is impossible to install without agreeing to some kind of crapware. This was not done by 7-zip developers, however.
two star for open office. minus 3 for the bad installer. PEOPLE you can have a clean install from Ninite website just google it!
FileZilla itself used to be a great tool, but the developers made a descision I cannot support. Their installer is by ask.com, producer of a useless, hardly uninstallable Toolbar that hacks into your browser and destroys your settings. Many people consider it as harmful like a virus, and indeed you can only remove it when you know what you do. So: BEWARE OF THE ADWARE IN THE INSTALLER! I cannot trust FileZilla anymore, and I will not update until they refrain from adding garbage to their installer.
Nice software but security is very poor. *Negative - Simple TXT Saved Passwords (unSecure Method).
