This wasn't as helpful as I had hoped
I'm as disappointed in the poor installer as everyone else. But you guys gotta remember that this is open source. So um... on my way to get the Source to build my own version I noticed that the software executables are already hosted without the installer, and it's 100% functional and only takes a minute to load. Go to the project Files tab, then to the Client, v3.7.3 (or latest). Now notice that there are two primary files for Windows: a zip that has everything you want, which only 10,000 people downloaded this week, and a Setup utility that 400,000 people downloaded this week and then complained about the installer. So ... get the zip, unpack it on your PC, and drill down to the executables. It's all there. Don't want to lose your existing configs? Before you do anything, open your current version and go to File>Export, and save your SiteManager and Settings somewhere. Now when you open the new version, go to File>Import and pull the data in. That's all ya need to do. Uninstall your current release, FileZilla doesn't even need to be installed. It runs from wherever it's located. Drag a shortcut to your desktop and you won't need to open that temp directory anymore. C'mon folks, how tough is that? Now, about the slimeware install. Yeah, complete agreement. It sucks. They should get rid of it. Until that happens. Remember important two words about this entire website: OPEN SOURCE!
