This release Must be considered as alpha test the first time you install or run it so, make a full copy of your BBs environment although you should remove all files (but Not the directories) of the bbs download file areas. This way you can examine newly loaded files and check that files.bbs has been created correctly with the expected discriptions. If you are not runing Binkleyterm and Maximus you must verify that FileMgr is accessing and changing your bbs message base correctly as well as the various mailer directories with the proper content. Likewise also check that the mesages FileMgr is putting out to go to your down and uplinks are also correct. Remember I have only tested it in a very limited environment. Don't forget to let us know the results of your testing in the Fidonet echo 'FILEMGR' with details of Filemgr version and release date as well as your bbs/mailer software and version of Windows/Dos or Os/2 or what ever. When you are confident of FileMgr then run it in your production bbs area. I Cannot stress this enough, do NOT initially run in your main bbs system until you are happy that FileMgr is not Breaking your bbs system. In any event make a backup of your system for the first few weeks of running also go into the bbs setup program and have a look at a few of the message bases to make sure its not now broke. In my testing I created a new node address in my case 2:250/1.1 and this was my test system. I set that aka up in my primary bbs system as a downlink and made that transfer all files and tics to the test system ie into the inbound directory and then run Filemgr. IF you need more advise on this, do not hesitate to ask. From this release (v0.80.001) the registration/shareware key has been removed. FM_DESC now uses FILEGATE.ZXX instead of FILEBONE.NA by default but you can still specify the filename.ext to be used. Filemgr: Fixed bugs within log file Active line is more accurate and header line gives full version number. name of .tic file given on unknown area error. Extra changes to help allow to transfer compilers from TP to Free Pascal but still a lot of work to go, i.e., the assembler code has not yet been touched. Fmsetup: Fixed up a number of bugs including: release and hatch should now be working. Dates that are displayed and entered are now Y2k and correctly alligned. Reg key code remarked out so no longer applicable. Documentation: The manual has had a major overhaul and hopefully is now easier to read and reflect closely with the software. The release notes and the readme docs made up to date with help in setting up the s/w for running and to compile it using Turbo Pascal.
