The power C, the niceness of PASCAL, and the syntax of QBASIC : FreeBasic - inline asm, dos support, linux support, win32 support, un-official xbox support, great forum with hobists ready to answer your questions, good programs and games built with it .... What are you waiting for ?

Although FreeBasic started as a replacement for ms quick basic long time ago, it's much more today. Good documentation and an active forum are helpful for beginners. But also advanced programmers have fun with the solid working compiler. It's a good choise to generate cross-platform programs and applications even with GUI. The community is increasing the number of library bindings form day to day. Short: an insider's tip!
