This is the award-winning FALCON I object recognition system! Capable of tracking up to 12 different objects simultaneously, and with over 6 times the raw resolution of the CMUCam, this is one of the most powerful vision systems in its class.

Yes, this project is still alive, if not very active at the moment. I am currently working on a complete rewrite of this system, dubbed the Falcon II. The rewrite will focus more on color insensitive object detection and classification, and less on the old color-based classification scheme of the Falcon I. You should start to see new code for the Falcon II in the Subversion repository in the next few months, however it will be some time before the new system is ready for a technology preview. The Falcon II is being written for the Spartan 3 -1000, same as the Falcon I. This project is NOT migrating to the Virtex II as previously announced; the cost to benefit ratio for the migration was far too low. The old Falcon I could currently use some help with the documentation, if anyone would like to assist me...
Due to consistent hardware timing and space issues with the Spartan-3 boards I am moving the active development branch of the project over to a Virtex-II. The latest stable release of the FALCON itself is v1.002; anything other than that will simply be a bugfix release. The active development branch will head off in a different direction, namely to provide full texture and shape based object recognition, as well as depth perception, at real-time speeds. Henceforth that branch shall be called the FALCON II. As always, enjoy!
