Explorer++

Here's a Genuine 'Freeware' Alternative to the built-in Windows Explorer (Five Star ***** Explorer++ Recommendation): As an alternative, I have more recently tested using another entirely freeware program called Explorer++ which is a far superior freeware multi-tab file manager for Windows (at least in my opinion) that offers features Windows Explorer sorely lacks, like tabbed browsing, secure file deletion, file merging and splitting, instant command line access, and keyboard shortcuts. I especially like the ability to optionally select the "Folder Size" setting and the tabbed browsing for easy management of multiple folders. Also it offers 'drag-and-drop' support with other applications, including Windows Explorer. Advanced file operations such as merging and splitting are also supported. The newest version of Explorer ++ implemented the media protection column. It is available for use on Windows XP and above and it features basically the same familiar type of interface as the standard built-in Windows Explorer, while Explorer ++ introduces numerous useful as well as pioneering enhancements for a much improved file browsing experience. I also like the fact users can separate the 32 or 64 bit version and the XML and put it on a flash drive or any folder on your HDD.

great little tool ! I used to use Q-dir then was frustrated with some quirks in it. then my friend google led me here, and I have been hooked. Thought I could never do away with the multi window but the tabs works just as fine and is less of a clutter. Keeping tabs across sessions means I dont need bookmarks, and can have all the dirs I want to access in a single click just available. Batch applications button is great. Also shows folder size !! First I was disappointed it didnt show the 3rd party tool Folder Size but then there is an option to enable it !! Fantastic ! These need to be documented in the features list !! Looking forward to being able to use this as my primary explorer ! Nice work !
