  • Proposal for a Secure, Anonymous, and Open e-voting system

The following link has an outline of a secure hybrid electronic/web and paper-receipt system for registration, voting and verification. Since this EVM project looks dead, I'm thinking I may just go on my own, using either a secure gentoo to build up or ubuntu to cut out unnecessary extras. http://globaltodo.blogspot.com/2007/07/proposal-for-secure-anonymous-and-open.html Diabold e-voting...

  • Followup: RE: Close the loop

I forgot to add that I think our problem with credibility of the voting system with the public is a greater and more troubling problem than the possibility of a voter being forced to vote a certain way if we allow her to come back after the tally and verify that her vote was recorded properly.

  • Followup: RE: Close the loop

Let's not define voter fraud too broadly or become so obsessed with the possibility of fraud that we throw the baby out with the bath water. At age 68 I can tell you that when most people think of voter fraud they are thinking of schemes by which candidates or political parties rig an election. They are not thinking of the possibility that a criminal might force a voter to prove how he voted.

I think that the main point of implementing Python as opposed to a better language > like C++ or VB.NET is that it is both free and very easy to learn. > First of all, contributors are those who make the project happen. Early contributes to this project are from folks who can make things happen in Python. What validates this selection for the demo is that the language itself is open...

  • Followup: RE: Why Python?

I think that the main point of implementing Python as opposed to a better language like C++ or VB.NET is that it is both free and very easy to learn. Though I myself am not what you could call "proficiant" at Python I know that it is a very powerful language that is easy to learn but still very powerful. Another thing is that Python could also be implemented in a web site or some...

  • Followup: RE: Why Python? Why NOT?

Anyone who is competent is just about any programming language can teach himself Python in about an afternoon. That is not true for C or C++.
