Enchantment OS is a Free/Open Source Linux distribution, tailored for ease of use, reliability and performance. It makes stable, secure Linux software goodness more accessible to nongeeky consumers and small business owners. Based on the Ubuntu Long Term Service distro and informed by interviews and user trials with more than 200 real-world consumers fom California to Florida, Enchantment OS has more of the features and apps that consumers need and less of the shiny nerdy stuff that they don't. Enchantment OS offers surprising performance on old and new PC hardware-- even when booted from USB flash drives. It features a clean, familiar desktop layout and is accompanied by an easy-to-read full-color paperback user book--Enchantment OS: Linux Simplified for Home and Office.

Bionic Stable Version for consumer/business use: eos-18.04.2-rc.1-amd64.iso,

Focal Beta Test Version for sudoers to test drive: eos-20.04-beta.1-amd64.iso

  • Finally! Very easy install -- even with full drive encryption. I have yet to use it for lots of productive work, but so far, the experience has been terrific. This is an awesome linux distribution for anyone who wants a simple, secure desktop OS without all the useless overhead. Browsing and email, check; documents and spreadsheets, check; great security and easy firewall config, check, super easy full-drive encryption, a big check! Zero to working for me in about 5 min, with full install to hard drive. I will report back if there is any change in my opinion after a few weeks, but otherwise I would say this is a huge success and I'm so glad someone finally made something like this.
  • Enchantment - by Kelley Winters - review from Laura Marchetti 8-16--14 This linux distro has what most people without a technical heavy background who cannot afford Mac and are tired of windows. Or perhaps you need something that is not a resource gluten or scary to operate? Here ya go right here! 1) I think this is most important - Simplicity in interface, for easier accessibility to applications. The Xfce desktop is by far one of the most practical desktop environments within the grasp of people into this different flavor distro, but not all are tech savvy. This is where the problem is solved, you get simplicity out of the box. I must say system is very easy on the eyes as well. The backbone being Xubuntu 14.04 makes this possible and Kelley's changes geared towards the people that are not OS or Tech savvy. 2) The use of synaptic as a package manager is key, as I believe it should be standard to most distros for it's reliability. This adds a big plus, while you still get the ease of adding your more leisurely programs the Ubuntu Software Center (which is about the most user friendly application manager you can use). 3) For the people that want no clutter this OS provides that as well, programs are very easy to find and search for like in windows start bar. Good for you Windows refugees or people fed up with Mac going where it's going as well as, HOW RESOURCE HUNGRY THEY HAVE BECOME. The great thing you click menu and the first items most people would look for right away are right there browser, email, and etc(I would exclude terminal until people become familiar with it). 4) You still get to customize the heck out of your desktop with docks for the more customization savvy people. Simplicity again the main principle allows the user to build up to where they can do more with less resources allow you to revive a lot of those old desktops you may have lying around. Which cans save you a lot of cash! 5) Support for Linux distros all around is pretty well accessible these days with the growing number of people trying to get away from windows and mac. You have access to Ubuntu threads, which can help you troubleshoot many problems yourself, if you decide to become that bold or want to become a seasoned user of the mighty Linux Terminal! All and all if you're trying to get over the dependency of windows and mac. Or simply do not like all of this Android like interface going on in a lot of operating systems, even a lot linux distros are doing it so look no further. Not to mention how can you not love a name like Enchantment, especially considering that is the state slogan of where this is developed(The State of Enchantment ;) )? Definitely worth your while, already have told my cousin about this, and he is in the process of reviving an old dell laptop, making this his OS of choice for the task. I need to not say more take it for a spin and have fun! -Laura Marchetti Enchantment - by Kelley Winters - review from Laura Marchetti 8-16-14
