I have been using Crimson Editor (now would be Emerald) for years, and it's very convenient, particularly when it comes to ftp. However, I am disappointed by the fact that it's not really maintained anymore. Emerald is still offering the same old Crimson Editor. This being said, as a Windows user, I did not find any other editor with the same convenience when it comes to FTP. Emacs, Xemacs and Notepad++ were quite disappointing alternatives from that perspective, under Windows.

Easy, fast, intuitive text editor. IMHO the best free text editor (UltraEdit still wins, though, if you have the money to spend)
