Crimson Editor can be configured to compile programs, do code highlighting, and editing columns. This is my 2nd best editor after vim.

Crimson Editor is the best text editor I've found. I've used it for years and will continue using it - an absolutely fantastic product.

I miss this editor no matter the name. I gave up running under wine on my linux box because of the insanity that follows.
