Server is on Vista Home Premium. Using instant vnc. The connection from a echo vnc viewer ends after 8 minutes. Can re-connect with no problem. But again the connect ends after 8 minutes.
If I use the demoserver, The connection does not end?.

If you check off only 'Require MS Logon' and click 'Configure the MS Logon Groups', the settings are stored in:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Echogent\EchoVNC\WinVNC3\mslogon]
BUT, when you also check off 'New MS Logon' as well, the settings/groups are picked up from somewhere else (at least in all of the systems I have been testing with… which have had the UltraVNC server service...

Some more info:
when "Allow Rdesktop" was manually enabled, and afterwards Win Policy was set to allow.
Then it works.
But when Policy is set to allow rdesktop, and it was never enabled manually before, then EchoVNC Option can not be enabled.
Regards Chris.

This option can not be enabled even if
Policy "Allow remote connections via Terminal services is enabled"
Not enabling the policy and enabling manual via "Workplace -> Properties -> Remote -> Allow Rdesktop"
then EchoVNC Option could be enabled.
EchoVNC does not recognize "Enabled Option" when Rdesktop is anabled via "Win Policy"
This should be fixed.

Is there a way to log in to an EchoVNC server that is passworded automatically, so that I don't have to type in the password. The .vnc file works to make the connection, but I would still prefer to be able to login without typing the password.
I did try "Require MS Logon" and "New MS Logon" options, but the "New" one refused to save the settings, saying it is...

Rob:
Weird. It sounds like the setup app wrote the password correctly into the HKCU portion of the Windows registry, but not HKLM. Not sure why that happened. If you export the EchoVNC registry keys in HKCU, you can edit the document with a text editor, change HKCU to HKLM everywhere, then double-click it to store it there permanently.
Weird. :)

Ha Dirk,
I downloaded the bitsadmin tool. I think it was part of a wider Microsoft Windows Utility Toolkit. It's only commandline. I used bitsadmin /util /repairservice /force and it worked again.
After donwloading the Windows updates and restarting the machine even the EchoVNC downloaded fine again.
I immediately installed a good anti virus program....

I am using EchoVNC (2.35) on a windows 2003 server machine. Last month I discovered a virus on the machine.
Cleaned the machine and found that the BITS service for Windows Update wasn’t working anymore.
Found a repair tool that fixed it.
But the thing that doesn’t work anymore is the download option in the EchoVNC viewer. Sometimes the download starts and gets stuck at a few percent.
