  • I don't know if DosBox will run any of the old networking software like Novell, 3Com, IBM PC Lan, AT&T Starlan, or Banyan Vines, but it runs everything else quite well. Once you find the configuration file's location, it's very easy to edit and customize. It should come bundled with Windows. :)
  • I think it's quite brilliant. A little tricky to set up but it's been a marvel for me. I've wanted to run the old Amstrad Locoscript software and it's the first completely stable environment I have been able to do so in. I know it's a but whacky still to be running Locoscript but it's databases are just brilliant and I can interface with my Libreoffice spreadsheet very easily.
  • This is REALLY really handy if you don't happen to have a bunch of old hardware lying around! Thank you all for the hard work. I have 1 question - how hard would it be to get the BOOT command to work in an actual version of DOS?
  • I like DOSBox because you can run windows 98 on windows
  • Windows 11 is working ????
  • This software is simply brilliant, I ran 2 machines under W10 which only wanted a 286 or 386 20Mhz (PC from the 90s) it is fully configurable and very easy to use. I am a developer, and to create simple and stable software like this, the work you have done has been remarkable. congratulations. I will see with my management to make a donation Best Regard JC
  • Thanks for all the effort you put into this unique project.

  • Oh sweet, sweet memories! Thank you for the ability to re-live my childhood!
  • I am going to mirror what others said: it is amazing. It could be simpler but the promise of reliving childhood memories is too strong to care. Nostalgia is strong with this one.

  • It brings back so many memories! Thanks to this soft I can play all my childhood games and check if it is nostalgia or something more. Great stuff!

  • Holy crap this is amazing. This ran all 100 of my dos games flawlessly. once you get past mounting your CD Rom drive and a virtual hard drive folder, it's perfect. It's runs these faster than on the original hardware on my Windows xp machine. Highly recommend for anyone with dos games!
  • Io uso DOSBox per giocare ai vecchi giochi. Grazie mille per il progetto.

  • I use this to run Arcplus - a DOS database program. It works well under XP, and I print by redirecting lpt1 to a shared printer (HP 4250). ie: net use lpt1 \\tony-c5d0582f71\HPLaserJet /persistent:yes <new para> DOSBox then sends lpt1 data direct to the printer. However I have to accept the printer default settings. - in particular font size 10. This cannot be changed on the printer. Is there any way to access the Windows (XP) printer driver? I have looked for a PCL command line string to change font without success (so far). Incidentally DOSBox is running under XP under VMware under my 2018 Macbook Pro. It is staggering that my DOS programs run very much faster than they ever did under a *real* Windows machine!

  • Looks promising but I cannot get very far yet. I have a number of DOS .exe files I wish to run. I have these files on my Android tablet but how do I get them onto the dosbox c: drive? I guess the answer is the mount command but I just don't getit. Help please! Many thanks, Peter Seaman

  • Didn't work on the first DOS game I tried 'Alien Legacy' produced Configuration error.
  • There is almost no DOS game that wouldn't work with this excellent emulator!

  • Great cross-platform DOS emulator. needs a bit optimization for low-end hardware.
  • DOSBox is one of the few pieces of software I use daily. It's simple and works and I've never had issues running old DOS applications and games with it.

  • DOSBox is a great emulator. It can be used in both educational and nostalgic purposes.
  • History Logo of VirtualBox OSE, 2007–2010 VirtualBox was initially offered by Innotek GmbH from Weinstadt, Germany under a proprietary software license, making one version of the product available at no cost for personal or evaluation use, subject to the VirtualBox Personal Use and Evaluation License (PUEL).[13] In January 2007, based on counsel by LiSoG, Innotek GmbH released VirtualBox Open Source Edition (OSE) as free and open-source software, subject to the requirements of the GNU General Public License (GPL), version 2.[14] Innotek GmbH also contributed to the development of OS/2 and Linux support in virtualization[15] and OS/2 ports[16] of products from Connectix which were later acquired by Microsoft. Specifically, Innotek developed the “additions” code in both Microsoft Virtual PC and Microsoft Virtual Server, which enables various host-guest OS interactions like shared clipboards or dynamic viewport resizing. Sun Microsystems acquired Innotek in February 2008.[17][18][19] Oracle Corporation acquired Sun in January 2010 and re-branded the product as "Oracle VM VirtualBox".[20][21][22] ...off course preferred BOCHS hehe...even less device resources allowed but DOSBOX IS A WONDERFULL SHARING....or trade 2....for weak people.
  • Fantastic! I freaking love DOSBox.
  • Runs the most of DOS games and utils. Sometimes it's not easy to define parameters in a .bat file for software that requires special settings. A manual will be useful.

  • Since you cannot have old applications running on newer operating systems, emulation are the only way to run old software. Yes, you can virtualize machines... but the cost for a virtual machine and the support for older operating systems is getting hard, so good work guys, keep working and improve your software. Too many people use your software.
