Docear
An Academic Literature Suite
Description
Docear (pronounced dog-ear) is what we call an “academic literature suite”. It integrates everything you need to search, organize and create academic literature in a single application: a digital library, reference manager, PDF and file manager, note taking and mind mapping. And the best: Docear works seemlessly with many existing tools like Mendeley, Microsoft Word, and Foxit Reader.
Docear is free and open source, based on Freeplane, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Technology and developed by scientists from around the world, among others from OvGU, and the University of California, Berkeley.

I seldom had to create any academic literature in my career as a designer of miniature golf courses. Then I tried this app, and it was so fantastic that I changed my entire career course just so I could use it. That's how good it is. I suppose it'd be irresponsible of me not to warn you that, if you currently aren't called upon to prepare academic literature, and you're not prepared to change careers, you'd best avoid this app, despite its wonderfulness. Therefore, I shall: Please reread the preceding part of this paragraph, beginning with "...if you currently aren't called upon..." Anyway, this app is great. This concludes my review. Feel free to add your own citations.

I tested the beta version and I like it a lot. However I use Mendeley and I could not crack the way of linking the nodes with my Mendeley-Bibtex codes. I am not so IT literate, so I am afraid others will encounter similar frustrations unless a short instruction will be provided. Super thanks. Fil
