I use it to organize my pictures and it works fine. The only disadvantage is: there is no kind of picture-preview-cache for offline times (Currently i using some tricky Symlinks and/ or mountoptions) Digikam is my favorite pictureorganizing- tool.

I just downloaded and tested it, but it has nearly everything I need. I suppose it is the greatest application for digital photo processing and storage management (as openSource). I used Pic*sa before and looked for an alternative which: - is available for WinXP and Ubuntu Linux - stores the photo relevant information sperately in a database in a user defined directory - enables elementary photo processing (sharpen, color adjustment etc.) - has tools for creating dia shows with music and collages like Pic*sa Digikam has everything except collages (as far as I know)

After poking around I think this may be the organizer that I have been searching for.
