  • I have been using this for managing IP addresses in my security camera network . Multiple subnets. It is a solid piece of software.
  • I am working with about 40 devices, two routers, one subnet. The DHCP servers built into the routers always assume that they will allocate the gateway to themselves. So, with two gateways on the same network, you need to use a separate server to deliver this DHCP server software and allow gateway router choice on the same subnet. This allows what i have, which is the ability to choose and change the router for individual devices and it work s fine for this - for a coupe of years now. This allows a fast but more expensive router (mobile router connected to the telephone system) to be used for the IP telephones and Digital exchange) and the slower but cheaper router (ADSL on my fixed line) to be used for surfing the web etc - and allows these to be easily changed if either router service goes down. I would recommend this arrangement for a small business internet connection to give backup protection and good IP telephone lines all at a reasonable cost - recommend Gordon Webb
  • Great DHCP server. It is essentially helpful in a case of several sub-nets.

  • Fantastic program. I use it to do troubleshooting in the network when dhcp details arise. It´s excellent for labs and demos. Supports several subnets. Easy to use and configure. Thanks.

  • I haven't use all the feature it claim, just very simple DHCPRange for Kali server. Good alternate to dnsmasq and ics-hdcp-sever without mess up with the network function.. Have to compile for x64 though. Global option is too lengthy should break down to category

  • Does what it's suppose to do, but poorly. Obviously not much time has been spend with this program. However its free, so no complains here. Documentation is seriously outdated and inaccurate (2013; code is 2017), hence the 3 stars only. I found the hard way (looking through the code) that option 150 is completely not defined, although the doc says it's called TFTPserverAddress. And surprise-surprise, option TFTPServerIPaddress is option 128 despite the PDF says is called TFTPPhoneServer. Good that we can use the options by numbers, not by names.
  • Fantastic tool. Gets around Windows licensing when connecting non-computer related nodes to a network. Loving how 3CX and Google Chromecast respond to it. Would LOVE a GUI built around it, but using Notepad++ does help me understand it a lot, lot better than any GUI ever could. I never knew you could pack so much into something so small.
  • I love this. Clean and elegant way.
  • This is an excellent utility, highly recommended for all network administrators that need a fast, stable, easy-to-use and versatile DHCP server. My ISP-provided modem/router (Orange Live Box) had very little configurable options in terms of DHCP which was proving to be quite a headache in an environment of mixed setups (static and dynamic hosts). Open DHCP Server proved to be everything I ever needed. Having not used it before, it only took me about 10 minutes to have it up and running (mostly spent skimming through the user manual) without any glitches at the very first run!
  • The server run perfectly on my W7 system. I use it for Arduino Yun, in order to know the IP address. Thanks!
  • thank you for wonderful share..
  • It's a good high-performance DHCP server. I've been reading through the code and the code could have been written better by using variable and structure names that make logical sense. It uses Data1, Data2, etc for almost all the data structures which is very ambiguous or cryptic. Structs are used instead of objects and most of the code is ANSI C, not C++. The constant variables are well laid out though, I will give it that. It uses some legacy Windows API calls from Win95/98, and nearly the entire program is written in one C++ file (over 5,000 lines of code). It lacks a true PXE server's functionality (aka Proxy DHCP) as laid out by the PXE 2.1 specification. Many of the numbers are fixed such as the number of MAC filters that you can specify. I believe this was done to maximize performance. It could be increased to a much larger number of filters by using objects instead of fixed numbers but at the expense of very little performance. I'm reading the code to write in the Proxy DHCP server functionality, because I just need a DHCP server that co-works with an already existing DHCP server to handout PXE information.

  • Great ! I managed to get Open DHCP Server alongside ICS working on Windows 8 ! It's a little bit a weird setup, as I'm using my laptop to connect a Wifi network that is then routed through my Win8 Pc to another router (LAN), which serves as the internal Wifi Connection. This is my setup: Windows 8 Computer connects internet through WLAN connection on the external router. Clients access the internet through Internal Wireless Router which has it's Lan-port Connected to the LAN port of the Win8. WLAN has ICS on and acquires an IP from the external router. The Lan port of Win8 is set to 192.168.10.2 (could be anything) The Open DHCP server is configured to give IP-adresses in the 192.168.10.10-254 range Netmask: 255.255.255.0 Router: 192.168.10.2 Nameserver: 192.168.10.2 I restarted the OPEN DHCP service and ICS and it worked !
  • Dhcpserver works perfectly.

  • Great DHCP server. Needed to setup a temporary server on our network this did the job just fine. Only thing missing is a gui for configuration/start stop. But config file is well commented. Great job.
  • Installed this on an old Windows XP box in a closed network for software development, and had it running in minutes. Simple editing of an ini file required after installation, and very well commented. This replaced an unreliable WinForm app that was a few years old... Open DHCP Server is much more reliable and configurable.
  • Good and useful software
  • This is exceptionally well thought out. There is no GUI, but the config file is very well documented, and I got help response back within one working day. I liked it so much I sent money to help fund the project! I was having an obscure DHCP related problem with Open Mesh wireless and another brand of DHCP server. OpenDHCPServer saved my hiney!
  • Best simple, totally free, and DECENTLY WORKING dhcp server I found for windows! Keep up the good work!
  • program works great. No GUI, you have to setup a text configuration file, but it's very well commented. Running on Win 7 ultimate (SP1-beta)

  • Great software!
  • Do I have to install it to find documentation on how to use it? I even looked in the source file hoping that there might be some documentation there, but no luck. No user docs. and no comments in the code either.
