Easy-to-learn interactive 2d plot program. Can overlay images, xy-data, and mathematical functions. Function parameters can be tuned with sliders; functions can also be automatically fitted to data. Written in Python, cross-platform, but currently broken
jwuttke changed the public information on the descartes: a function and data plotter project
bug fix: unordered plot limits will no longer crash the program
more messages in the status line; tab traversal of the control panel; simple plugin facility
severe bug fix: adding necessary parentheses when substituting values for parameters
improvements in parameter slider zooming
(1) CVS data files may now contain a header line with coordinate names. (2) Various separators allowed in CVS data files (kolon, semikolon, tab, blank). (3) data items can be in WAV format (S16_LE). (4) New buttons in control frame to zoom and move x and ...
(1) Added choice between quick-and-dirty / careful function plotting. The quick-and-dirty option guarantees smooth plotting while parameters are tuned. (2) Added control to set number of interpolation points. (3) More controls for parameter tuning. (4) ...
Parameter slides can be zoomed to arbitrary intervals. Right mouse click in the plot window opens a menu which allows to zoom out or restore full scale.
descartes can now be used to study functions that contain one or more parameters. Parameter values can be tuned by a slider; the slider can be zoomed to arbitrary intervals.
Added script and startup image, for users who are not familiar with tar.gz archives.
