A well-supported open source project, Delta3D is a full-function game engine appropriate for a wide variety of modeling & simulation applications (training, education, visualizations, and entertainment).
Fully open source engine that is updated constantly and supplies great support from both the developers and user base. Plus, I'm awesome.
This is one of the most promising open-source engines on the web. They don't want to reinvent the wheel, but create an abstraction layer around all kind of open-source software. Like OpenGL, OpenAL, OpenSceneGraph, ODE, etc. For that reason the installation process is a pain in the ass. But there is no way in which you would be able to combine all that software yourself into a coherent framework. Currently we are using to simulate robots in a 3D world, adding sensors e.g. It's a lot of work to get grips on all of it, but it is very satisfying when it finally works. More then any other environment it promises to be pluggable for e.g. an other physical engine (PhysX or Bullet instead of ODE). It's as powerful as a full-fledged operating system. I really like it!
Combines many engine tools into one place and ties them together.
