DCRaw4J converts digital camera RAW image files into standard formats such as JPEG and 16-bit TIFF (linear or non-linear). DCRaw4J was inspired by David Coffin's dcraw; a C program that handles raw formats from over 200 cameras.

DCRaw4J 1.1 is a minor release of the Java-based digital camera RAW processing utility, but it adds a couple of nice features and fixes a significant bug. DCRaw4J 1.1 still only handles Canon CRW files, but no longer requires plugin configuration. - No more green dots! A silly typo was causing random green pixels to show up in processed images. This is no longer the case. - Image orientation is detected and the final image is automatically rotated. - The plugin system has been eliminated. New image formats will be handled in releases of the DCRaw4J core software. This greatly simplifies configuration.
DCRaw4J is a pure-Java implementation for processing digital camera RAW files into 8-bit JPEGs, 16-bit TIFFs and 16-bit linear TIFFs. Version 1.0 is now available on SourceForge.net, bundled with the Canon CRW plugin. More plugins are coming soon. DCRaw4J was inspired by David Coffin's dcraw.c, and provides the same command-line functionality. It may also be used as a pure-Java library in other applications, though, unlike dcraw.c.
