Odd "tasklist" applet behaviour

I have a problem which crops up every now and again... currently it's back, and it has bugged me enough to actually ask if anyone else has encountered it (and hopefully solved it).

When I did an update of CyGnome recently, all was working brilliantly (I use sawfish and panel in rootless mode) - the tasklist applet displayed all running applications and didn't include the "panel" or itself in the list.

At some point today, I had XWin crash on me (WindowsXP even offered to send a bug report to Microsoft - how useful).

Now when I start things up, the tasklist always shows the "panel" process (and itself) and doesn't show minimised applications - they just disappear from view (as I'm rootless) and I can only kill them.

Does this ring any bells with anyone? I tried deleting all files in "/tmp" - no difference.
