    You should only be concerned about that error message if you actually have one of those 3COM devices on your system.

    We use a VERY crude method for configuring the compute nodes when they boot: we simply try to install each and every driver module! Each module does its own check to determine if it can run. For missing hardware, it is very common to see messages such as "bad checksum." In these cases, the message is harmless and the driver goes away.
